Homemade Solar Power – 3 Reasons Why You Can Do It Yourself
Can the average person create their own homemade solar power? In short, the answer is absolutely. But there is one significant issue to get past before you’ll be be able to use the sun’s energy to for your own homemade solar power. You must have the right knowledge to build an effective system for your house.
Why is homemade solar power attainable for you and I today, when it was beyond our reach a few years ago?
1) Solar Power Technology has Advanced
Any technology you look at, even something as common as the wheel, takes years to perfect. Solar power is infinitely more complex both in practice and in theory. Assuming you know everything about solar theory, it would still be extremely difficult to build a homemade Solar Power System. The major difference between now and the past is the technology has become simpler for the average person to access. All you need are some inexpensive and commonplace materials and some know how. If you wanted to start your own project right now you could go online and download a solar power guide with step by step DIY instructions for less than the cost of a movie night at the theatre for two.
2) Solar Power Information is Readily Available
Homemade solar power wasn’t possible for the average person because until recently because practical knowledge was in the hands a a few private companies. But luckily for you and I, that is no longer the case. Cheap Solar Power wasn’t doable because these companies charge such a large sum to build an effective system. To convert a normal size house to solar power would cost a minimum of $10, 000… and that would still only be good enough to power a few appliances every month. A full conversion could cost as much as $30, 000. Labor is always the most expensive cost in any renovation, the materials are secondary. Unfortunately solar power is different in the sense that labor AND materials are very pricey.
Now for the good news. As I said above, homemade solar power can be fairly simple with the right guidance. In the last few years DIY guides and kits have become available and allow us to easily build and use solar power for our home. Many of these kits deliver but be sure that if you do download one it’s credible and should give you the ALL the information you need in one kit.
3) Solar Power Materials are Cheap
Pre-fabricated solar power materials are expensive, but pre-fab isn’t the only route you can take any more.
With some knowledge you can head over to your neighbourhood hardware store and get everything you’ll need to build your Solar Panel for less than $200. The main issue isn’t price but know how. Once you have your materials, you’ll have to understand how to put them all together for your own homemade solar power system. A good solar power guide will give you all the information you’ll need to get on with it, the next step is just getting on with it already!
So in review, three of the major reasons why homemade solar power is possible today are:
1) Solar power technology has advanced
2) Information is readily available and inexpensive
3) The materials are cheap and easy to find
Good luck on your solar power project!
